Raw Oak Honey

Our raw Oak tree honey comes from Arkadia in Peloponnese. Raw Oak tree honey is a honeydew honey.

Oak honey is a rich tasting tree honey with a deep earthy taste. It is very dark in colour, almost black; and is rich in antioxidant properties.

It has a variety of minerals including potassium, magnesium and iron and is ideal for combating anaemia, dysentery and chronic diarrhoea.

Oak honey has a very distinctive aroma and although Greece is very rich in oak forests, oak honey is considered a rare variety of honey.

The oak tree is a large deciduous tree which is part of the beech family. Bees love to feed on the sap that comes from the tree's acorns. The bees collect a sweet nectar that the acorns weep in July and August and create a unique type of honey. It tends to be less sweet but is quite potent.

Oak Tree honey is less likely to set due to a relatively low glucose content and is ideal for people who do not like a very sweet tasting honey.
